Called the “Yosemite of Southern California,” Malibu Creek State Park sits in the Santa Monica Mountains, about 10 minutes from Malibu and roughly an hour from DTLA with no traffic. The terrain is diverse, with creek beds, open meadows, and sandstone cliffs.
People come to hike, mountain bike, fish, and climb. Hike about half a mile in and you’ll reach the rock pools, an ifykyk spot worth gatekeeping.
Day use parking is around $12. Camping is available but fills up quickly in summer, so plan ahead.
